Family Fandango

This past Sunday marked the end of our summer session, and we celebrated with a performance, potluck, and Fandango – a celebration with Son Jarocho music, which originated in Veracruz, Mexico. ¬†Our violinists and cellists, after having their instruments for only 4 weeks, played the “Ant Song” and “Kalele”.

Our winds and percussion students performed a more extensive program, including a “Stomp” piece arranged by our very own teaching artist, Paul Hanson.

Following the performances were singing, dancing, and learning new music. Special thanks to Jim Rice and Bell Arts for hosting and Jorge Mijangos for organizing this lively Fandango!
